Tristan

In early 2001 I decided to buy a pony to train up for Mounted Games. Instead, I found Tristan! He was 4 years old, and was living 'wild' in a herd in a 40 acre paddock! I was impressed with his confirmation, paces, breeding (he is by ‘Arabian Park Egyptian Magnetic'), and with how calm he was when I put a saddle on his back, so took him home.

Tristan grew to 13.3hh, and was a very interesting colour - liver chestnut with lots of white flecking (and spots in summer!), and a silver mane and tail. His tail was so thick that no-one believed it was real!

He was very talented and a quick learner! He was a fabulous jumper as well - he would jump anything I pointed him at without hesitation!

Our competition history

Because I was wanting to train Tristan as a children's pony, we competed in as wide a variety of events as we could.

Some of our results include:

  • Northside Riding Club (2004)- Runner-Up Hacking High Pointscore (only competed at 2 of the 4 events!)
  • Hawkesbury Show (Showjumping - 2004) - 1st (his first showjumping competition!)
  • Zone 26 Jamboree (Showjumping - 2004) - 1st
  • Castle Hill Twilight Show (2004) - 1st Lady Rider
  • Northside Riding Club Gymkhana (2004) - Champion Adult Rider
  • NSW Dressage Council - scored 7s and 8s in Preliminary tests
  • Completed 15km & 20km Endurance rides
  • Northside Riding Club (2004) - Champion Working Hunter
  • Northside Riding Club (2004) - Champion Led & Ridden Pony

Where is he now?

When I moved to suburbia in early 2005, I had to part with Tristan. He now lives down near Yass, and is ridden by his 12 year old owner at pony club. They are having a lot of success together in Pony Dressage.

The last two photos below show Tristan's new rider riding him at home on the day I dropped him off - Easter 2005.
